on the first shot
the enemy must have
been blazing hot
picked me up
shook me around
I never saw the dice
hit the ground

I heard the voice say

I balled up in a knot
clinched my fist
took a deep breath
prayed intensely
then I heard the voice
with a houling decree

bathing beneath
the moon
Deep within the
essence
of my dreams
dangling in mid air
smiling at divinity
Whispering exclusively

let's fly above the eagles lair
& dance upon the air
High above the moutains
that scream set me free!
Unbind the chains of humanity
& clear a path exclusively for me
Let me glide
on concrete beams
built upon my knees
laugh at the oviance
of serenity,
give me life, give me liberty,
give me hope
that has no memory
Of unjust laws, broken dreams,
hollow moments in my screams
When I, yes I, trampled upon life
Shaking the dust from my feet
While ancient Kings & Queens
slumber & weep
I break forth, out of the
boundless sea
paving a path

He stole my heart,
had me thumping to his beat
told me he was born & bred
an African chief
I pause for a minute
to listen to his drums
the thunder in his voice
made me succumb
his rythmn starting jolting
springing me to life
he broke the sound barrier
gave me new sight
I became infatuated
with his mellow rythmic flow
he had dropped an anchor
that wouldn't let go
I smiled as I leaned back
to hear that last chord
& for the first time in my life
I knew, love was overboard

Yesterday I could not breathe
silence had sealed me in
I could not break an echo
or laugh with a friend
My tears were slow & heavy
as my mind reminised
and everything I longed for
was carried away in a mist
My emotions begin to churn
all I wanted to do was scream
but a voice from deep within
lifted me from my dream
whispered away my sorrow
wiped away my tears
& from that moment I knew
there would be
a brighter tomorrow
